In November of 1962 , J.T Pollard started Pollard Milling Company. This Old-Fashioned corn mill was a real hit to the general public. Monday through Friday , he and his family worked hard to keep their dream alive. During the early years of operation he set aside Thursdays to grind for the public. People in the local area would bring their corn to be ground in the mill; at the time he charged only 3 cents a pound! This Stone-Ground mill is still ground the same way as it was years ago; the stones that J.T started with are still in operation today! As the company grew and business increased J.T began to get weak. When J.T passed away he passed his business down to his two sons; Jimmy and Tony. In 1976 Jimmy and Tony built the new building that is still used today. With the boys running the business, it started to expand, they started delivering to grocery stores and wholesale- grocery distributors. Tony took care of the the routes and outside sales, while Jimmy ran the mill. The business kept chugging along and the boys kept working hard to keep the business going. In 1990 a major company offered distribution to places that they couldnt reach, and they began to expand a little more. In 1995 they purchased Scholars Mill (originated in Cairo, GA) which has been a mill since the 1920s, and is still distributed by Pollard Milling Company today. In 1999 ,Tony developed cancer and passed away in 2000. Today Tony's wife (Paula) and Jimmy run the business.
